What if cost wasn’t the thing that decided whether you could be there?
At Wildworks, we make our work for everyone. But we know that in reality, not everyone can afford the cost of theatre tickets.
For The Kneebone Cadillac, we’re trying a different approach. Tickets start at £1. There are no eligibility checks and no need to explain your circumstances. You simply choose what you can afford, or what you feel able to give.
Alongside that, there are four other ticket options. Some reflect the true cost of making the work. Others create a way for those who can afford more to support wider access. Together, they form a model built on shared responsibility rather than fixed pricing.
This isn’t about discounting the work. It’s about recognising its value in a broader way seeing it as something to be experienced collectively. Theatre only really exists when people gather, and that gathering should feel open.
We’re a charity, supported by organisations like Arts Council England and Cornwall Council, but ticket income still plays a vital role in sustaining what we do and enabling us to make daring and ambitious work. Paying artists and collaborators fairly, and making exciting shows in special places, comes at a cost.
This model is an experiment. It asks audiences to consider not just what they can pay, but what they want to support. Some people will choose to give more, making it possible for others to attend for less. Some will pay £1, and that is equally valid.
What matters is that more people are able to be there.
