“Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced. I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart’s affections, and the truth of imagination.”

‘This is Me’ is one of seventeen artworks produced for Hello Stranger, a Cornwall-wide community engagement programme created by Wildworks and supported by National Trust properties in Cornwall and the communities they serve.
“I feel one of the benefits of this project is that we are all getting to know each other at a deeper level – which is lovely”.
‘This is Me’ is an arts engagement project comprising multiple art forms, including: storytelling, dance, painting, ceramics, writing, and film. The artists worked with women from the Women’s Institute in Hayle over several months, using different creative mediums to explore their personal stories. ‘This is Me’ set out to uncover stories of connection to place, to Cornwall and lands far beyond its borders and beaches. The artists sought to understand…
Where do you come from?
What do you hold dear?
Where does your heart belong?
The final work began to take shape as the artists developed relationships with the women through this creative process. Together they created the reliquary: a box or shrine in which sacred objects are kept.
